Mr. Parker is a Graduate Instructor at the University of Colorado. In this role, he serves as Director of Senior Projects for the Computer Science department. He has been instructor and mentor for fifty-three undergraduate senior project teams, each with four to six students, over the past five years.
Concurrently, Mr. Parker investigates the role of practical experience in Computer Science Education. His research examines student artifacts and experiences from the Senior Projects capstone, exploring the influence that the practical project work has on individual and team growth during the university-to-work transition.
Previously, Mr. Parker was a Senior Research Analyst at Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio, TX, for eight years, with responsibilities covering all phases of software development, from requirements elicitation through deployment. He worked as software lead for a multi-million dollar government contract, supported by a team of twenty software engineers.
